Atkinson Country Club / Wedding in Atkinson New Hampshire
I finally photographed Jaime and Mike’s Atkinson Resort and Country Club wedding after their last year’s engagement session. Most wedding shoots incorporate the breathtaking environments of popular wedding venues, but for Jaime & Mike’s October 2018 wedding. We had to make a couple adjustments.
The Space at Atkinson Country Club
Atkinson Resort & Country Club is a sprawling paradise located in Atkinson, NH. Jaime & Mike hoped to incorporate the stunningly-groomed grounds and such features as the outdoor trellis and gazebo into their photos. Mother Nature apparently had other plans.
My years of experience have taught me to keep all options on the table when wedding day comes. While rain forced the entire reception inside we took advantage of the breathtaking interior design and decorations to create a memorable wedding experience.
Before The Atkinson Country Club Reception
But first, the wedding ceremony. Jaime and Mike didn’t have their ceremony at Atkinson Resort and Country Club. Instead, the ceremony took place at St. Augustine Parish church where Jaime and her family have kept going faithfully. You’ll see that the stunning symmetry created by the pristine white walls and light wood fixtures kept Jaime & Mike center-stage. When taking these photos I thought to myself, “Was this place built for them?”
Mother Nature Intervenes
As Jaime & Mike unfurled their umbrella to head to Atkinson Country Club, I’ll admit I was dismayed. The pergola would have made for great portraits, with the perfectly-manicured grounds providing a breathtaking backdrop. But, as stated above, sometimes you just have to make do.
And make do we did! The Stagecoach Grille at Atkinson Resort & Country Club, as luck would have it, was a perfect venue for a wedding forced inside by unexpected rain. Who would have thought the deep blue bridesmaid dresses would match perfectly with the bright wood tones of the dance floor?
Perfect match, perfect laughs
You’ll also notice some of the subtle accents created with the same color scheme. I can’t help but notice how the groomsmens’ ties, the flower girl’s ribbon belt, and the bridesmaids’ dresses created a truly memorable unity in color.
Jaime & Mike’s couples portraits were an example of color scheme mastery. The embroidered carpets perfectly matched Mike’s blueish-gray tuxedo. My double-flash technique introduced an attractive saturation to make Jaime’s dress pop and bring all the colors together.
No wedding shoot is complete without the right touch of humor. Mike’s groomsmen spurred chuckles with surprise cheek kisses. And just to prove they went all-out, the groomsmen lifted their pant cuffs to show off their matching socks – what a riot!
The finer details at Atkinson Country Club Wedding
Yet the perfection of Jaime & Mike’s Atkinson Country Club wedding doesn’t stop there. Their wedding cake – complete with accents the same color as the bridesmaids’ dresses – was a visual delicacy. The table arrangements were a photo opportunity themselves. And then the dancing begins!
The groomsmen brought more laughs as they trounced out in pastel-patterned jackets. One bridesmaid even came down the stairs with one of them on her back, a sentimental and hilarious moment.
My favorite part about shooting this Atkinson Country Club wedding was easily the bride and groom’s first dance. With these shots I made sure to focused directly on the couples, while the background faded from view. I express how, when together, Jaime & Mike let the world disappear around them when locking eyes and exchanging kisses.
Throw in a plethora of emotional speeches and a night of love-whipped shenanigans, and it’s easy to understand why this wedding meant so fun. Jaime & Mike’s love exists through thick and thin. While the rain forced us inside, not a drop of glow was lost in the affair.
And in the end, gratitude
In all honesty, Jaime & Mike’s wedding reminded me of why I love what I do. The chance to capture their memories and their love was an honor. Witnessing how that love can be celebrated even when things don’t go according to plan was nothing short of inspiring.
