Located in South Boston waterfront, The Lawn On D is an event space designed for both public and private events. It’s owned and operated by Boston Convention & Exhibition Center. This unique South Boston wedding venue has a 2.7-acre outdoor event space on D Street next to the BCEC and Westin hotel. The freshly planted trees, greenery, the pavilions and lights up swings made this space vibrant with urban vibe.
Unique Outdoor Wedding Venue in Boston – The Lawn on D
The Westin hotel next to The Lawn on D made the commute easy for bride and groom from getting ready to their ceremony. It’s just matter of walking distance rather than driving distance and worry about traffic. The summer ocean breeze picked up bride’s veil perfectly. I have no doubt all the guests were appreciating that moment as well.
As sun was going down, everything else lit up, the surrounding buildings, the pavilion for wedding reception and the swings. These circle shaped outdoor swings lit up in different colors, hung from geometric structured metal frame. Guests couldn’t resist to have a sit and got pictures taken, from kids to adults. As you might know, it is not so fun to attend a wedding for kids. But this is perfect for kids to have some fun on their terms. As the night was falling, the lights up swing was even more magnificent against the twilight sky in the middle of the city.
I thought The Lawn on D is a very cool outdoor wedding venue in Boston. However, it was not as cool as the bride and groom. They had some really unique touch to their wedding. It was my pleasure “meeting” beer hops for the first time. The sweetheart table was decorated with beer hops instead of traditional floral.
The bride and groom also had a special surprise dance for all the guests. They were wearing lights up sneaker and heat up the dance floor. As I heard from family members that the bride used to dance. I guess she was the amazing choreographer. All the guests were amazed as I was. They were all cheering and following the beat. It pushed this celebration to its peak. This The Lawn on D wedding venue was perfect and cool as this beautiful couple.
